Weekly Production Log (Myself and Isaac Randall 9655)

10/10/14 - This lesson we brainstormed initial ideas that could be used in our opening. Each of us came up with three individually. Some potential story lines agreed but not for definite.

15/10/14 - We presented the best of our ideas to the class in order to gain some audience feedback. The general consensus of the feedback was that Isaac's idea was the preferred. However, this was not agreed on by our group, so we gained feedback on our other ideas in order to modify them so they could be suited to the audience preferences.

28/11/14 - We met up at a potential filming location (North Weald Redoubt Fort). Whilst here we decided and confirmed our base idea to work on. We also found that the building was suitable for filming. It was decided that we would use it for our opening.

5/11/14 -  a Talent release form, location scouting form, risk assessment form and location release templates were all created, but are yet to be filled in.

7/11/14 - We came up with a production company identity, 'Blood Orange', before producing 10 logo ideas. We then decided on our favourite: the text with blood splatter.

19/11/14 We successfully created two animations for our production company, and then decided on our favourite one for use. We also decided on a suitable classification on our film (15) after carrying out research into what each classification entails.

20/11/14 - We decided to publish our creation on social media platforms, we therefore created a Facebook and twitter page for our production company, Blood Orange Productions.

26/11/14 - Title polls were added to the Facebook page, in order to gain audience feedback and therefore choose a suitable title for our film. Also in this lesson we evidenced audio permission from our audio source 'incompetech.com'.

3/12/14 - We decided on ‘Captive’ from viewing audience feedback as this received the most votes on our Facebook page. The Certification Screen has been made and added into video sequence and further Facebook posts have been made.

5/12/14 - Locating Scouting/Release Forms completed. Primary Research of classmates' opinion's completed, 5 colleagues have given their opinions on our opening, confirming that we are ready to shoot. We have finished our initial plans, including details on hair/make up, costume, lighting, shot types and props.

12/12/14 - Risk assessment complete and all ideas finalised. Logistics in order and all props ready for shooting on the 27th December 2014.

27/12/14 - Shooting began at 9:30am and ended at 5:30pm. In this time all shooting was completed, including flashback sections (outside location) and main clip (inside). The filming process was smooth and the group followed the storyboard closely with minor diversions.

7/01/15 - Started the edit decision list. This included viewing each clip shot on the day as a group and listing whether it is usable or not.

9/01/15 - As a group we carried on completing the edit decision list and managed to finish the list during the lesson.

16/01/15 - Consequently we began the process of creating a rough cut of our intro in order to get a feel for what the final clip will be like. This process took the whole of this lesson.

18/01/15 - We continued to complete the rough cut meanwhile referring back to the clips and the edit decision list in order to aid with our shot choices.

23/01/15 - Continued to complete the rough cut. During this lesson we also showed our unfinished rough cut to the rest of the class in order to collect audience feedback.

28/01/15 - We finally completed the rough cut and have exported the clip. We have also started the final editing stage of our clip.

2/02/15 - We began advancing our rough cut to a final edit. In this session, we added some visual effects and tidied some of the footage from the previous session.

3/02/15 - As a group, we met outside of the class session in order to continue the final edit. We got the order of the clips as we wanted them for the final cut.

5/02/15 - We spent this session adding titles to the cut and then perfecting them. This was a very time consuming process as the 'jittery' nature of the titles meant creating many layers of text and editing them precisely.

11/02/15 - We finished the video in terms of clip editing. The remainder of this lesson we spent colour grading the clips, making the temperature colder, changing some of the mid tone and shadow hues whilst also adding vignettes and contrast.
